
Dr. Tatas Brotosudarmo is a leading expert in natural pigments in Indonesia. His research focuses on carotenoid pigments as bioactive compounds and their applications in healthy food and agriculture. As a biochemist and analytical scientist, he employs advanced techniques such as High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Mass Spectrometry, and other optical spectroscopy methods. Dr. Tatas is well recognized within both Indonesian and international scientific communities. He has received numerous prestigious awards, including the 2023 IVLP on Combatting Public Health Challenges from the U.S. Department of State, the 2017 Toray Science & Technology Award, the 2017 UK Alumni Award, and the 2019 Georg Forster Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. In the scientific community, he has served as President of the Indonesian Chemical Society (HKI), Founder and Chair of the Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) Southeast Asia Chapter, and Vice President for Science and Policy at the Indonesian Young Academy of Sciences (ALMI). Currently, Dr. Tatas serves as the EURAXESS Worldwide Representative for ASEAN, bridging collaboration between Europe and ASEAN and expanding ASEAN’s participation in research and innovation funding through the Horizon Europe program.
